Opening Morse Code Translation:
Jericho Three
Synopsis: Jake organizes a group to gather more information about the explosions after a satellite television in the local bar broadcasts an Asian news program showing the extent of the nuclear attacks. In addition to the television broadcast, Stanley, who is hospitalized for radiation poisoning, claims to have seen tanks headed toward Denver. With Jericho still cut off from communication and the people craving information, Jake recommends sending out four search parties in different directions to get a sense of what is going on outside of town. Meanwhile, when one of the inhabitants dies unexpectedly, Heather questions the cause of his death.
Jake finds two airliners that have landed on a stretch of highway and are blocking the road. The planes have been abandoned. No passengers or crew are in the area. He removes the "black box" -- the flight recorder -- and brings it back to Jericho. He listens to the recording and hears, among other things, reports of mushroom clouds over Denver, CO, Lawrence, KS and southern Texas (maybe Houston). He also learns that the flight Emily's fiance, Roger, was travelling on, landed safely in a cornfield in Nebraska without fatalities and only minor injuries to crew and passengers--ROGER LIVES!
Episode recap:
Routes:
Just in case you're wondering, here are the routes of the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," as Gray put it:
- Gray will travel East to Topeka.
- Ridley (who is replaced by Shep) will travel West to Denver.
- Abrams and Crossfield are going North to the Nebraska State Police Barracks in Broken Bow (both cancel).
- Jake and Emily plan to travel South to Wichita (Emily later opts out).
The Stanley Report!
Okay, on this episode the BEST CHARACTER, Stanley, comes down into the cellar where the Sheriffs, Emily, and Jake are. They wait out the storm there, then he is taken to the hospital. While there, Stanley goes to check on Mimi who is also being treated at the the hospital. A little narration... (apologies: I'm a Stanley freak...)
Stanley walked into the room and leaned on the wall. "Are you okay?" he asked Mimi.
"If you call radiation poisoning okay," Mimi answered, her voice shaken.
"Were you out in the rain too?" Stanley questioned, with something of concern on his face.
"No, of course not," Mimi breathed. "I, uh, touched a building when we came out of the shelter."
"Oh." Stanley looked relieved.
"Look, you can stop pretending," Mimi interrupted.
"What d'ya mean?" Stanley asked.
"I audited your farm," Mimi replied. "Why should you care about me?"
"Maybe I'm a nicer person than you."
Mimi nodded. That was probably true. "Were you out in the rain?" she asked him.
"Yeah, for about twenty minutes," Stanley replied.
"Well, you look good," she complimented him.
"Thanks," Stanley smiled; "I--uh--try to work out...
Mimi chuckled at the joke.
"Well, I think I got the worst of things. So if I'm okay...you should be fine," Stanley assured her.
"You're sweet," she told him. "And," she added hastily, "you still owe one hundred and eighty thousand dollars to the IRS."
"Yeah, I know," Stanley nodded.
(I could write a lot more, but I'm out of time. Join us next time for the Stanley report!)
Questions:
Q. What has happened to the two other men that went out to search for help and info?
A. As of now, it appears as though there was no northernly route and nobody knows what happened to Shep since his vehicle was driven to Jericho by Victor Miller in episode 4.
Q: Jake said that they should stick to people without families for the Four Horsemen, does this mean that Gray Anderson is single, and has no children? We haven't seen anything to suggest he has any sort of family so far, and is there a reason for this?
A:
Quotes:
Stanley: Hey, what's with all the tanks?
Bill: What tanks?
Stanley: On my way home, I passed a line of tanks. They were hauling ass towards Denver.
Jake: Stanley, how many tanks did you see?
Stanley: Five, maybe?
Eric: The Mighty Johnston Green, felled by the flu.
Johnston: Oh, here it comes..
Eric: I don't know if I told you this, but my father is impervious to mere germs.
April: Oh, really?
Johnston: Yeah, I believe that was the quote.
Gail: First inauguration. Have it all on video.
Johnston: It was a joke. I was trying to make... April, don't ever make a mistake, this family will never let you forget it.

Watch
Did anyone else notice the red Jeep leaving at the same time the rest of the scouts were leaving town? Do you think it was traveling north, or just a coincidence. Later I believe at the police command station in Jericho I saw four arrows on the map delineating routes of travel, not just three. There is some food for thought, if you haven't seen that Episode, or don't remember you should go back and watch Four Horsemen carefully! :-)
